Last week, it was announced that Luke Combs would be unable to make a scheduled taping for the CMT Music Awards on Thursday (March 24). Although the Awards are not until April 11, Luke was supposed to pre-film his performance with Kane Brown.

However, since he couldn’t make the taping, Luke will no longer be performing during the ceremony. Old Dominion stepped up to perform in his place along with Kane.

So why was Luke unable to make the taping for his performance? According to a spokesperson from CMT, he tested positive for COVID-19.

Unfortunately, Luke Combs won’t be with us tomorrow,” read a statement obtained by Music Mayhem. “He is quarantined with COVID. He’s bummed to miss seeing everyone!

A few days later, Luke’s wife, Nicole, shared an update on his health during a Q&A session on her Instagram Stories.

Nicole had some good news to share. She said both she and Luke were feeling well, and they were testing negative by then. Nicole is currently expecting the couple’s first child, a boy.

We are all happy and healthy and negative around here,” she said.

Nicole then took the time to thank everyone who reached out and expressed concern for Luke’s health.

Thank you all for checking in the last couple of days. I’ve seen a lot of messages,” she said.

She told her followers Luke “wouldn’t have known he had” COVID-19 if he didn’t have to test for the CMT Music Awards. So it sounds like he was feeling good, all things considered.

Luke’s positive test came the week after he headlined the C2C festival in Europe. He welcomed Ed Sheeran onstage for a performance in London, and you can watch that video below.

We’re glad to hear that both Luke and Nicole are in good health!
