Maren Morris Breaks Her Silence – Publicly Confirms Her Split From Ryan Hurd

Maren Morris recently opened up about her divorce for the first time. She spoke about the split during a conversation with Howard Stern on his namesake SiriusXM show.

Morris was married to country singer Ryan Hurd for five years. She filed for divorce on October 2, 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the filing.

The couple shares a son, Hayes Andrew Hurd, who was born in March 2020.

Neither Morris or Hurd spoke publicly about their split prior to Morris’ interview with Stern. But she has shared posts on social media hinting that she’s going through a tough time.

For example, on November 13, Morris shared a post on her Instagram Story that said, “The annual existential crisis: cut all hair off, adopt a dog, get back on antidepressants.”

Stern asked Morris about that haircut, and what it meant. She responded, “I cut all the trauma out of my hair.

Maren Says Her Divorce Is “Ongoing” And Reveals She Isn’t Ready To Date Yet

Morris continued to say:

“I think this year has … for a lot of people, not just me … a lot of people that are close to me have gone through it … I’ve known so many people that have gone through breakups or divorces.”

When Stern asked about her own divorce, Morris said it is “ongoing.”

Stern also asked Morris if she’s dating again. “The Tree” singer said she wants “[the divorce] to sort of wrap up” before she considers seeing someone new.

I don’t have the headspace for that yet,” she said. “But I’m writing so much right now. That’s kind of been my way of dating is just through song.”

Morris released a two-song EP, The Bridge, in September. The EP’s release and comments Morris made in an interview with the LA Times made it seem as though she was leaving country music.

Morris has since denied this, and says she isn’t leaving the genre:

“No, no, no. I’m taking the good parts with me and all are welcome. But, yeah, there were just some facets of it that I didn’t really jibe with anymore. So, I’m a lot happier now,” she told Jimmy Fallon in November.
