On March 17, Duck Dynasty‘s Mia Robertson underwent her “most extensive surgery” for her cleft lip and palate.
In a post the day before the surgery, Mia’s mom, Missy explained what the surgeons would be doing.
“At 10:30 AM tomorrow, our Mia girl will have the most extensive surgery she’s ever had,” Missy wrote on Instagram. “Both jaws will be cut and reset in order to improve her overall health and speech. We were told she will be in surgery approximately 5 hours.”

On Twitter the day of the surgery, Jase told fans that the surgery started a bit later than expected.
The doctors started the procedure at 11:45. This girl is one of the bravest people I know! “…Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.’” Isaiah 43:1

Following the surgery, Jase posted a pre-surgery photo and gave everyone an update as to how the operation went.
“She is hanging tough after a 6 hour surgery. She is in the ICU. The team of doctors is amazing & feel ‘really good about the procedure.’” he wrote.
(Photo is pre-op) We got to see Mia and she is hanging tough after a 6 hour surgery. She is in the ICU. The team of doctors is amazing & feel ‘really good about the procedure.’ To our friends/prayer warriors, we thank you. It has now been a little over a week since the surgery and Mia’s parents are giving another update, as well as sharing the first photos of her since her operation.
Jase co-hosts a podcast called Unashamed with his dad, Phil, and brother, Alan, where he informed them that Mia has been quite uncomfortable and revealed that her swelling could last up to 12 months.
Missy’s update thanked everyone for their prayers, well wishes, saying they are “overwhelmed by support.” She also included a photo of Mia giving a thumbs up and a photo of her playing the piano.
See Missy’s post below.
Thank you SO VERY MUCH for all of the prayers, cards, texts and messages, etc. We are overwhelmed with the support. They continue to mean so much to all of us. We have an Almighty and powerful God. He has been by Mia’s side for her entire life. We are grateful to you and to Him! pic.twitter.com/7GGJKSrB3i

Jase added, “Mia continues to show her tenacity in the healing process. She’s been out of bed today for little spurts, even long enough to brush up on her piano playing. Thank you all for your continued prayers. It’s a tough road, but our God is faithful!”
