Dolly Parton’s Musical Premiering In Nashville
Parton told Variety that she “always wanted to do my life story as a musical.”
Dolly expressed her desire to see the musical while she is still alive.
“I wanted to see it done while I’m still around, to be able to oversee it and make sure that it’s done properly in a way that I would want to see it, rather than to wait till I’m gone and let somebody else decide how they think it should be done.”
The production will feature many of her beloved original hits, along with new songs exclusive to the show. The producers have not announced the cast yet, but they will have three actors portraying Dolly Parton at different stages of her life.
According to the official website, “this joyful and moving new musical will take you inside the literal rags-to-riches story of Dolly Parton and give you new insight into her triumphs, trials, and trailblazing. Directed by Tony Award® winner Bartlett Sher with a book by Dolly Parton and Maria S. Schlatter.”
Following its Nashville premiere, the musical will head to Broadway in 2026. Buy tickets HERE.
