‘Voice’ Alum Ryan Whyte Maloney Has Died At 44

Ryan Whyte Maloney, a singer who competed as a member of Blake Shelton’s team on The Voice, died Tuesday (January 28). He was 44.

The  Clark County Coroner in Las Vegas confirmed the news of Whyte Maloney’s death and revealed the cause of death as suicide due to a gunshot wound to the head.

Following his run on The Voice, Ryan maintained a relationship with Blake Shelton and performed often at Shelton’s Ole Red in Las Vegas. His last performance there was on Friday.

About Ryan Whyte Maloney

The talented singer was raised in Traverse City, Michigan, and grew up to love country and rock music. At age 9, he learned to play guitar, violin, cello, and drums, according to his website.

In his early 20s, he began touring, playing numerous concerts and festivals each year. In 2013, Ryan auditioned for The Voice and enjoyed a successful run as a member of Blake Shelton’s team. Following his appearance on the show, Maloney continued to perform, write, and record music, eventually landing a residency at Blake Shelton’s Ole Red Las Vegas.

Ryan Whyte Maloney earned a rare four-chair turn during his The Voice Season 6 audition performance of Journey’s 1978 hit, “Lights.” Blake Shelton and Adam Levine were the first to turn for the talented singer, followed by Usher and Shakira. Ultimately, Maloney chose to join Team Blake.


He and his fellow Voice Season 6 contestant, Morgan Wallen, were both eliminated during the Playoff round.
