A New Yellowstone Spin-Off Is Galloping Into Town
Those who’ve been waiting for updates on Dutton Ranch may soon have their wishes granted.
Dutton Ranch is the upcoming Yellowstone spin-off centered on Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. Not much is known about the series beyond its name, which changed from its original working title, The Dutton Ranch.
The official logline, as quoted by Variety, reads:
“Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler are grateful for the peace they sought, fought, and nearly died for with their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch. With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter becomes the man he’s supposed to be.”
Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Finn Little will reprise their roles as Beth, Rip, and Carter, respectively. Some new cast members have joined the fold as well, including Ed Harris and Annette Bening.

Dutton Ranch Shares Cryptic Teaser
On Thursday (March 5), the official social media accounts for the now-completed Yellowstone prequel series 1923 shared a mysterious post. It included a picture of cattle huddled together in a field with a dark sky behind them.
The post announced that the page’s name would soon change from 1923 to Dutton Ranch. The caption read, “We were previously known as 1923 and will now be Dutton Ranch, coming soon to Paramount+.”
As of this writing (on the afternoon of March 6), the name change has already occurred on Facebook but not on Instagram. Paramount adopted the same tactic after the Yellowstone spin-off 1883 ended. They renamed the show’s pages for 1923, which have now been renamed for Dutton Ranch.
This cryptic post prompted questions from fans. Some were confused about the page’s name change, while others wondered what the teaser meant.
“How can 1923 be Dutton ranch if Dutton ranch takes place in modern times?” one commenter asked on Instagram. “This post just doesn’t make sense I know it’s just tryna build hype but what lol.“
“what does this mean?!” wrote another follower.
“So, they are skipping what happened with Spencer and Alex’s son…The Dutton Ranch is Rip and Beth, isn’t it?” commented one fan.
“I am only interested in 1923. What are you saying? We are now pretending it never existed?“
Another fan simply wrote, “What?” with another commenting, “W H E N ?“

Yellowstone Producer Shares Update On Dutton Ranch
It seems the recent teaser post is hinting at a major update on Dutton Ranch‘s progress. Many are hopeful that an official premiere date will be announced soon.
Yellowstone producer David Glasser shared new information about the Beth and Rip spin-off at the recent premiere for Marshals, another show in the same universe.
“That’s in the works right now,” he told Entertainment Tonight‘s Cassie DiLaura. “I just left [the] set in Texas [and] flew here today, so that’s deep in the weeds right now.”
Glasser said Dutton Ranch has been a way for them to “explore” Beth and Rip’s characters while also “maturing” them. But don’t worry, it sounds like some of that signature Yellowstone drama will still come into play.
“Just when you think we can’t turn it up a notch, we do,” Glasser said. Watch his entire interview below.
