The Grammys scaled down surrounding celebrations this year due to the wildfires that tore through the Los Angeles area. Parts of this year’s ceremony were devoted to tributes, raising support for relief efforts, and showing appreciation to first responders.

The Grammys occurred just a few days after the massive FireAid benefit concert, also held in Los Angeles. That concert featured an inspirational performance from Grammy nominee Jelly Roll.

Sheryl Crow Delivers Moving Tribute During 2025 Grammy Awards

As mentioned previously, Sheryl Crow was one of the artists who agreed to perform at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Ahead of the ceremony, Billboard reported that she would perform during one of the tribute segments.

Crow was one of several artists who delivered the opening performance of the night. The performance was led by Dawes, a folk-rock band from Los Angeles. The group’s members, brothers Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith, lost their house in the wildfires.

Crow joined Dawes, Brad Paisley, John Legend, St. Vincent, and Brittany Howard in performing “I Love L.A.” by Randy Newman. Newman released the song in 1983.

Dawes led the performance vocally. But Crow and the other artists chimed in with backing vocals and musical accompaniment. Overall, their performance served as an upbeat and hopeful ode to the city that’s suffered a lot of heartache in recent weeks.
