The moment that Tanya Tucker fans have waited nearly a decade for is almost here.
After songs like “Delta Dawn” and “What’s Your Mama’s Name” put her on the map as a teen singer, Tanya Tucker was regarded as a leading force in country music. She became known as one of the genre’s only female “outlaws,” due to her rebellious persona and music that sometimes leaned a little more on the rock and roll side of things.
Tucker’s popularity has spanned across multiple decades, and she is still held in high regard today…even though she hasn’t released an album since 2009.
The last record Tucker released was titled My Turn, which featured covers of country classics. To find Tucker’s last record of original material, you have to jump back even further in time, all the way to 2002’s Tanya.
That means fans have waited 17 years to hold an original album from Tucker. But after all this time, that wait is about to end.
Earlier this year, Tucker began teasing the fact that she was working in the studio. Later, news broke that she was working on a new record with two other big names in the industry serving as producers…Shooter Jennings and Brandi Carlile.

It was also revealed that Tucker’s new album would be titled While I’m Living. No release date for the album has been set, so fans had no idea when they would hear Tucker’s new music.
They did get a little taste of the album when the legendary singer debuted its title track during Loretta Lynn‘s birthday celebration in April. But other than that, fans were left to wait until Tucker was ready to share some news with them.
For a few days, Tucker started posting images on Instagram teasing the release of new music. But the one she shared on Tuesday (June 4) was the most exciting.
While the image has a “play” button on it, you’ll be disappointed to discover it simply animates the image, and doesn’t play any audio. However, you won’t be disappointed over what Tucker wrote in the caption. She revealed that her new music will be here sooner than anyone anticipated…tomorrow (June 5) to be exact!

From the sounds of it, Tucker seems to be teasing the release of a song, rather than the entire album. It seems that the song will harken back to her outlaw roots, as she referenced other outlaw legends in her series of hashtags, naming Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash.
Only time will tell what Tucker’s new song will be like, but thankfully we don’t have to wait long to find out! In the meantime, enjoy her live performance of her upcoming album’s title track, “While I’m Living,” below.
