Part one of The Voice Season 26 finale aired Monday night, and coach Reba McEntire pulled out all the stops with her lone finalist, Danny Joseph.
Danny Joseph, a former law student from the U.K., earned a rare four-chair turn during his Blind Audition. He chose to join Team Reba and has remained there, despite nearly being eliminated during last week’s semi-final round. Joseph was forced to sing for an Instant Save in a last-ditch effort to advance to the finale. He was ultimately voted through, giving Reba her only finalist this season.

During the opening night of the finale, each finalist sang one up-tempo song and a ballad, showcasing the depth of their talent in an effort to secure enough of America’s votes to win the title. Danny’s song choices included covers of Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black” and “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma” by Luke Combs.
With no country artists competing in the finale for the first time in several seasons, Reba’s decision to have Joseph perform a country cover may have been strategic. Country artists historically have done well on The Voice, with former coach Blake Shelton having more wins to his credit than any other coach.

Following Danny’s performance of the Luke Combs hit, Coach Reba praised him saying, “I was just so thrilled. I’m just like a proud parent. I am so proud of you. You’ve done so well during this whole competition. You never ever disappoint me.”
Was Danny Joseph’s performance of “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma” enough to earn him the Season 26 title? Watch the video below and tune in to The Voice Tuesday night (December 10) to watch results.
About Danny Joseph
Danny Joseph is a married father of 3 and currently resides in Dallas, Texas. Prior to moving to the U.S. in 2016, the 37-year-old busked in the London Underground.
The same year he moved to Texas, Danny was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Just a few days before getting the call to compete on The Voice, he underwent major surgery to remove his colon.
In an Instagram post shared in late November, he detailed the surgery, saying that it took him awhile to get his voice back.
“In February of this year I had surgery to remove my whole colon (large intestine) and more… even muscles used for singing were removed and altered. The recovery was incredibly difficult; 2 months of being bedridden, and a very very slow and uphill battle,” he wrote.
“I got the call a few days after the surgery to say I had made it on The Voice. I did everything I could to recover and get better as soon as possible, when I arrived here on the show at the beginning of the process, I was nowhere near 100 percent, still massively fatigued and weak and dizzy, as the recovery has been so slow.”
Despite being “nowhere near 100 percent,” Danny Joseph wowed the judges with a performance of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put A Spell On You.”
