Did Old Dominion Win For Their 8th Year In A Row?
Old Dominion has dominated the ACM awards, winning the Group of the Year for 7 straight years. Will this be their 8th?
It is not uncommon for the Group of the Year category to be dominated by a single group for several consecutive years. Alabama achieved this with a six-year winning streak from 1981 to 1986. Similarly, Rascal Flatts enjoyed a six-year winning streak from 2003 to 2008.
However, Old Dominion has surpassed them both with the most consecutive wins, totaling seven. Despite this, Old Dominion does not hold the record for the most overall wins in the Group of the Year category at the ACM Awards. The group with the most total awards is The Statler Brothers, who were most popular in the 1970s and also had a six-year winning streak from 1972 to 1977.
Last year at the ACM Awards, Old Dominion mentioned that they had won the Group of the Year award 7 years running. They spoke about their humble beginnings and expressed gratitude for the support of their fans who got them their incredible win streak. Watch their acceptance speech below.ย

The Red Clay Strays have already won the ACM Award for New Duo or Group of the Year prior to the show. The group was surprised with the award on Monday afternoon while recording withย Dave Cobb in Savannah, GA. This marks their first ACM award.
Little Big Town has also had a great run with the ACM awards, accruing 5 Group of the Year awards during their career. Rascal Flatts last won the ACM Award for Vocal Group of the Year in 2009, and have won 7 times with a solid 6 year run.ย
