Season 29 Of The Voice Ended On Tuesday, April 14th – Who Won?

Just moments after the winner of Season 29 was crowned, The Voice revealed its first coach for Season 30.

Season 29 of The Voice only featured three coaches, all of whom were returning winners: Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend. Fittingly, it was dubbed the “Battle of Champions.”

The season adopted an entirely new format, as every episode was pre-taped. Therefore, viewers at home couldn’t vote.

The coaches chose the contestants who advanced to each stage up to the semi-finals. Then, the semi-finalists and the eventual winner were chosen by an in-house audience.

Alexia Jayy, a 31-year-old soul singer and mother from Irvington, Alabama, emerged as the winner of Season 29. Her coach, Adam Levine, celebrated her win, saying, “I would say I can’t believe it, but I can. There is no one that is more deserving of this honor.

During Jayy’s blind audition earlier in the season (for which she earned a triple-chair turn), Levine declared:

“You have that voice that motivates me even more to say, ‘You know what? This is the best voice in the competition.’ This is what has to win…You’re one of the best we’ve ever seen.”

Turns out, Levine’s comments were right on the money! Watch Alexia Jayy’s crowning moment in the video below.

Reigning winner Adam Levine is returning to defend his title during Season 30!

Levine was one of the original Voice coaches and remained on the show through its 16th season, scoring three wins during that run. He left after Season 16 and took an extended break before returning for Season 27 and Season 29.

Now, Levine is thrilled to be participating in the show’s 30th season. He told PEOPLE:

I will be back. I’m having so much fun doing it. Since I came back a few seasons ago it’s just been a blast and I’m super happy to keep it going as long as they’ll have me.

So far, Levine is the only coach confirmed for Season 30 of The Voice. PEOPLE reports that the new season will air in the fall, but an exact premiere date has not been announced.
