Ella Langley Opened Up About Being Nervous Performing At Stadium Shows With Morgan Wallen
Last June, Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem Tour had just begun, and it introduced concertgoers to an incredible, and unexpected, duet.
Morgan’s 2025 triple-album, I’m The Problem, features his only duet to record with a female singer, “What I Want,” which features pop star Tate McRae. However, performing the song live during his stadium tour saw him bring out Ella Langley to fill in for Tate. These performances coincided with Ella’s meteoric rise over the past year, leading up to the April 10 release of her second album, Dandelion.
Reflecting on this season in her life and career, Ella was recently a guest on comedian Theo Von’s podcast, This Past Weekend, and she addressed performing with Morgan Wallen during his stadium tour… with special emphasis on the time she forgot the lyrics…

The second city that the initial 2025 leg of Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem Tour stopped in was Madison, Wisconsin, with fans filling the seats of Camp Randall Stadium to capacity.
For two nights in a row, Ella Langley joined Morgan on stage to perform the female part of “What I Want.”
The first of these performances, saw Ella forget the lyrics to the song, compelling her to write the lyrics on her hand the next night.

Discussing this situation with Theo Von, Ella admitted, “I can’t help it, I’m human … I don’t want to mess up the words, like, when I did ‘What I Want’ with Morgan, I mess up words almost every single time.”
She added, “I have never been so nervous to do something. I just feel like I could throw-up out there every time.”
Reiterating, she said that she “just could not remember the words” to “What I Want,” and she then went on to describe the sensation of performing in a stadium at a Morgan Wallen concert, saying:
“POV: you go through this tunnel, you know what I mean? And you’re playing in the stadium — it’s the most people you’ve ever been in front of — you’re walking out with Morgan Wallen, everything gets dark and there’s smoke everywhere, and you got to walk out, and I’m in pointy heels and there’s grates out there, so you got to make sure you’re not falling down in those.”
Noting there’s usually one rehearsal, Ella then said, “You get one shot at it … But doing it in front of 80,000 people is different than at 2 p.m. in the middle of the day.”
Ella then recalled something that “was awesome,” saying, “The last time we did it, [Morgan] came out and messed up the words, and when he did it, I just started to laugh so hard because he was giving me so much s*** about messing up the words.”
Remembering what Morgan would playfully tell her, she told Theo that Morgan would say, “‘You can’t come out here and mess this up again,’ and I was like, ‘I might. I really am scared that I might.'”
Continuing her account of the situation, she said, “The last night, he did, and it was, like, he just immediately could never say another thing to me about messing up the words, you know.”
She then added, “So that was nice of him, if he did that on purpose or not … That’s what he says now, ‘That’s why I did it, to make you feel better.'”
