When Does Season 29 Of The Voice Premiere, And Who Are The Coaches?
Season 28 of The Voice is still underway, but they’re already making plans for the premiere of Season 29!
In fact, we knew some key details about Season 29 before Season 28 even started. In July, The Voice announced that Season 29 will adopt a new format and be called the Battle of Champions.
The season will only feature three coaches for the first time in the show’s history. Those coaches are past champions Adam Levine, John Legend, and Kelly Clarkson.
Months after unveiling its initial plans for Season 29, The Voice has announced the premiere date for the season.
Keep your evening free on Monday, February 23, because that’s the big day! The premiere episode of Season 29 will air that night at 9/8c PM on NBC.
Take note, because the schedule for premiere week will differ from what fans have grown accustomed to. There will be THREE new two-hour episodes during premiere week, with those dates and times being.
- Monday, February 23 at 9/8c
- Wednesday, February 25 at 8/7c
- Thursday, February 26 at 8/7c
Then, NBC notes that “Beginning March 2 (and after a March 5 telecast), The Voice Season 29 will air new episodes weekly on Mondays in its normal 9 p.m. ET timeslot, followed by Brilliant Minds at 10/9c.“
New episodes will be available to stream the following day on NBC’s streaming service, Peacock.
Season 29 Of The Voice Will Introduce A Ton Of Changes
Additionally, The Voice recently revealed how Season 29 will be unlike any other. They’re introducing some “major” format changes and new rules to the season. An article on the NBC website describes these changes and rules.
The first change comes in the Blind Auditions. The coaches will compete in a “Triple Turn Competition,” with each one striving to earn the highest number of three-chair turns. Each coach will have 10 artists on their team at the conclusion of the Blind Auditions.
The winner of the Triple Turn Competition will receive a new “Super Steal” power they can use during the Battles. NBC says, “This game-changing prize can only be used once and negates any other Coach’s attempt to Steal, guaranteeing their win.”
Moving on to the Knockouts…each of the three coaches will welcome back two contestants they coached during previous seasons. These all-star performers will compete in sing-offs, and the coach with the most sing-off wins is guaranteed to send two Season 29 contestants on to the Finale.
Former coach CeeLo Green has signed on to judge the all-star competition during Season 29.

Later in the season, The Voice will introduce a brand-new “voting block.” Formed from a group of super fans and past Voice contestants, the block will vote for contestants in real time throughout the Semi-Finals and the Finals.
What a way to shake things up! While you wait for the Season 29 premiere of The Voice, you can enjoy new episodes of Season 28 every Monday at 9/8c.
The Season 28 finale will air on December 15 and December 16.
