For the past few weeks, Trace Adkins‘ fans have been trying to gather up any bit of information they can get about his upcoming album. Titled Something’s Going On, the record will be Adkins’ first release since 2013. The album is set to hit the shelves on March 31, and Adkins’ fans can hardly wait.
Thankfully, Adkins gave us a few things to hold us over until we can get our hands on a copy of Something’s Going On. He announced a new tour for 2017, and he has show dates scheduled from February-August. If you’d like to snag a ticket to one of those shows, be sure to head over to Adkins’ website here.
Those who follow Adkins on tour will likely get the chance to hear a brand new song. Titled “Watered Down,” the tune is Adkins’ newest single and his third release off of Something’s Going On. He previously released the songs “Jesus and Jones” and “Lit” long before Something’s Going On ever had a set name or release date.
“Watered Down” was written by the skilled songwriting team of Matt Jenkins, Trevor Rosen and Shane McAnally. But if you didn’t know any better, you’d swear that Adkins penned the tune himself. It represents him so well that even he is able to recognize the connection.
Adkins previewed some of the new music off of his album at an event in Nashville in early February. During the event, he took the time to offer an inside look into “Watered Down,” the message behind it, and how it applies to his life. Country Music Tattle Tale reported on what he said:
“When I heard this song, I was like, ‘Well, that’s my current state in a nutshell. That’s where I’m at. A man that’s lived his life like I have, at some point you face the reality that you have to temper your vices. You have to calm down. I’m still crazy – you’ve just got to temper it a little bit.”
There’s something empowering about “Watered Down” that has already resonated with people around the world. Its message of growing older but never necessarily growing up is one that many people can connect to, including Adkins himself.
If you haven’t heard “Watered Down” yet, we’re sure you’d like to after hearing all of this. You’re in luck, because we’ve included its official lyric video below for y’all to enjoy. This video was shot on Adkins’ farm outside of Nashville, so you could say it has a bit of a personal touch.
Once you finish watching the video, be sure to head over here so you can pre-order Something’s Going On. You’ll be able to get “Jesus and Jones,” “Lit,” and “Watered Down” right away, so it’s more than worth it!
