Kicking off 2017 with a giant bang, the legendary performer thrilled fans with exactly what they’ve been waiting for: new music!
Dropping a brand new single from his forthcoming album, Trace Adkins brought much more to the table than a killer new song, he also unveiled the name and release date of his new album while simultaneously launching a North American tour that got fans all riled up!
The single, “Watered Down” is an incredible look at life and how it changes as we age. Built on a strong, and subtle tune, this ballad is nothing short of amazing. The song describes how we experience many things over the course of our lifetime, but as time moves on, we look at them differently – still appreciating them for what they were “back when”. As the song says, they’re just a little “watered down” now.
As revealed in a press release on his website, Adkins’ latest musical project will be titled Something’s Going On and they’ve planned a release for March 31st, 2017.
So far, Adkins has released three singles from the album, another power ballad “Jesus and Jones” along with a boot-stomping party anthem, titled “Lit”. Both songs received high praise from Adkins’ massive fan base and they’ve been chomping at the bit for more since!
“Watered Down” draws from the unmatched talent of famed songwriters Matt Jenkins, Trevor Rosen, and Shane McAnally who beautifully put together this reflection of a grown man on his life, revisiting those rebellious feelings he holds inside.
“I don’t go all in, but I’ll take a gamble. And I don’t burn both ends of the candle anymore…We still like our whiskey. Now it’s just a little watered down.”
The press release which announced the new single, the album and its release date with the tour schedule explains that this new lyric video shows him living “a simple, slower life”. Although it’s technically called a lyric video, the film shows Adkins moving about farm life, enjoying each moment and each chore – no matter how tedious, but reveling in his youthful soul.
