The CMA kept one massive secret performance very well hidden, although causing a wave of upset upon its great release to the public. While the 50th CMA Awards was said to be night of pure country artists and legends, fans were thrown a perplexing curve ball when it was announced that Beyoncé would be performing with country music trio The Dixie Chicks. The news drove country music fans to outrage, making their angered voices heard via social media and even boycotts of what was supposed to be one of the most magical nights of country music history! However, while the majority of attending and performing artists spoke decently of the pop star, one country music singer wasn’t feeling words of praise by a long shot!
Travis Tritt took to his Twitter page to publicly call out those who chose to bring the “Daddy Lessons” singer onto the show, stating,
As I see it, country music has appealed to millions for many years. We can stand on our own and don’t need pop artists on our awards shows.

He later added, “I love honest to God country music and feel the need to stand up for it at all costs. We don’t need pop or rap artists to validate us.”
However, Tritt had already released a string of tweets surrounding the singer prior to his pop genre rant! After his performance in Kentucky, the “Help Me Hold On” singer addressed his fans by saying, “Thanks to everyone who came out to see us in Bowling Green, KY tonight. Sorry we weren’t able to do any Beyoncé for all the country fans.”
FYI – My band and I are gonna try to work up Beyoncé’s “All The Single Ladies” for all you die hard country fans who love traditional music!

I want to know when the BET or SoulTrain awards are gonna ask a country artist to perform on their awards show?

Tritt ended his rant with a short but sweet, “That’s it for me tonight folks! God bless you all and goodnight!”
What did y’all think of his public appraoch? Do you agree with what he said?
