Just weeks after being fired by Fox News, conservative television host Tucker Carlson is returning with a new show.

In a 3-minute-long video posted to Twitter Tuesday (May 9), Carlson announced that he is relaunching his popular show on the social media platform.

The host, who hasn’t publicly spoken about his Fox News firing, opened the video by speaking out against mainstream media and their alleged misleading of the public. “You are being manipulated.” Carlson told viewers.

He went on to say that Twitter is the only platform left in the world that allows free speech.

“Amazingly, as of tonight, there aren’t many platforms left that allow free speech. The last big one remaining in the world, the only one, is Twitter, where we are now,” Carlson said. “Twitter has long served as the place where our national conversation incubates and develops. Twitter is not a partisan site, everybody’s allowed here, and we think that’s a good thing.”

Carlson then announced, “Soon we will be bringing a new version of the show that we’ve been doing for the last six-and-a-half years to Twitter.”

Tucker Carlson was Fox News’ top rated host when he was abruptly fired in late April. No explanation for his termination was given, but Fox issued a statement that read: “Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
