They Didn’t Know Or Plan For This To Happen

The 35-year-old women didn’t expect or plan to do this, it kind of just happened. Lauren already had two kids, a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old and after visiting a doctor found out she was pregnant again. However, what she didn’t know yet is she was going to have twins. It wasn’t more than a week later Lisa found out that she too was expecting.

“We kind of figured Lisa would deliver about three weeks earlier because at the time we didn’t know we’d have twins,” Lauren said, according to Good Morning America. “It didn’t cross our minds at all that we’d ever have babies on the same dates.”

Due to having twins, Lauren scheduled a C-section for November 7th because the twins were already starting to get into the breech position 38 weeks into her pregnancy.

The First Sister Goes Into Labor

On November 5th, Laurens’s sister Lisa went into labor and admitted herself into the hospital. She stayed in labor for two days and on November 6th when the clock stroke midnight she realized that she and her sister were going to have babies on the same day. Lisa ended up having her baby at 1:39am that morning and named him Benjamin.

Lauren showed up that same morning to the hospital to have her scheduled C-section and 10 hours later gave birth to twins with the same doctor who delivered her sister’s baby. They both got rooms right across the hall from each other to recover and the doctor said it was the first time in the history of Mercy Hospital that twin sisters gave birth on the same day.

“When I would go see Lisa, Lauren would be walking in and I’d be like, ‘Of course you’re making it easier on me so I can see you both at the same time,'” Dr. Christi Menges said, according to Good Morning America. “The fact that they both were pregnant at the same time and then to deliver at the same time, we didn’t plan it that way.”

Over twenty-six of their relatives showed up to congratulate the sisters and within a few days, both women went home happy and healthy with their new additions to the family. They say they are looking forward to doing joined birthday parties.
