Todd Tilghman and Jake Hoot share something in common that few people do…they’re both winners of The Voice!
Tilghman won Season 18 of The Voice in 2020 as a member of Team Blake. He was 42 years old at the time, making him the oldest winner in the show’s history. Hoot won Season 17 in 2019 as a member of Team Kelly.
Beyond their Voice wins, Tilghman and Hoot have another big thing in common…their faith.
Tilghman is actually a pastor, and grew up singing in the church. Hoot’s parents are Christian missionaries, and he developed a love for music during their mission in the Dominican Republic.
So when Tilghman decided to record one of the world’s most beloved hymns, it made perfect sense for him to ask Hoot if he’d like to join him on the track.
The pair released their rendition of “In the Garden,” which has been recorded by dozens of other artists through the years. Country music artists such as Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, and Joey + Rory have all offered their takes on the tune.
Tilghman and Hoot released their duet version of “In the Garden” on January 14, 2022.
“My good buddy @todd_tilghman and I put our spin on one of my favorite hymns of all time, ‘In The Garden.’ Out everywhere today,” Hoot wrote while promoting the song on social media.
