Actress Piper Perabo currently plays Summer Higgins on Yellowstone. Summer and John Dutton started off as adversaries when Summer was first introduced in Season 4. But the two drastically different characters eventually formed a bond that is continuing to develop in Season 5.
While Summer was a former foe of John’s, she’s now his love interest. They even shared a kiss in the December 18 episode of Yellowstone.
During an interview with TV Guide, Piper spilled all the details about what it’s like to kiss Kevin Costner, who plays John. First, she made it clear that they actually kissed for the scene. There was some debate on whether the kiss was real, since it occurred behind John’s hat.
“We actually kissed,” Piper said. “Because you can see us moving. Adults know. Like, have you ever seen actors pretend to drive a car, and you’re like that’s not really how you drive a car? It’s the same way with kissing.”
Piper went on to compliment Kevin’s kissing skills, saying, “…I mean, Kevin Costner’s a pro.”
