Zac Brown’s Estranged Wife Kelly Yazdi Addresses “Personal Attacks” Aimed At Her Amid Divorce

Zac Brown’s estranged wife is speaking out amid their divorce after the singer recently filed a lawsuit against her.

The “Colder Weather” singer shares five children with his first wife, Shelly. They split in 2018 after 12 years of marriage. He remarried five years later when he tied the knot with model Kelly Yazdi during a private ceremony in Georgia on August 31, 2023.

In a shocking announcement on December 29, 2023, Zac and Kelly revealed they were divorcing just four months after they wed.

At the time, they said, “Our mutual respect for one another remains. We wish each other the best and will always appreciate our time together.”

However, things don’t appear to be cordial between the former couple while divorce proceedings are ongoing. On Friday (May 17), Zac filed a lawsuit against his estranged wife over an alleged Instagram post she shared that he believes violated a confidentiality agreement.

In a statement provided to NBC News, Zac said:

I took the steps necessary to enforce an agreement between us to maintain personal and business affairs in confidence and to protect my family from online harassment and speculation.”

Court documents show the Zac Brown Band frontman also filed an emergency temporary restraining order against Kelly. This would force her to remove the Instagram post in question.

Kelly Yazdi Responds To The Claims

After news of the lawsuit and restraining order went public, Kelly took to TikTok to address her estranged husband’s claims.

No one—not even Zac Brown with all of his money, power, celebrity, and lawyers, may silence my right to freely express myself through art or, although I have to date declined to do so publicly, to speak about the circumstances of our pending divorce,” she captioned a video she posted on Sunday (May 19).

She added how she initially opted not to respond to the “legally meritless” and “unnecessary” lawsuit. But she found herself feeling compelled to speak out:

“…I have made no public response to either of those very public, very unnecessary personal attacks on me by my celebrity soon-to-be-ex-husband,” Kelly said. “But it is clearly Zac, not me, who has strategically chosen to drag our difficult divorce negotiations into the public eye with these tactics in an effort to portray himself as a victim and to use his vast resources to silence me from telling the truth about our marriage. It will not work, and I will not be silenced by him no matter how ridiculous his tactics.”

In the video itself, Kelly thanked her followers for reading and listening. Read her full statement by viewing the post below.
