Scotty McCreery is undeniably a southern gentlemen. Even after becoming the youngest male winner of American Idol in 2011 at just 16 years old, the southern charmer never let the fame make him forget where he came from, the small town of Garner, North Carolina. The country singer returned to his home state of North Carolina for a stunning performance of the National Anthem at the North Carolina State University Wolfpack game back in October 2011.

Wearing a Wolfpack tee, the country singer removed his hat out of respect for the flag, and then took the breath away from every soul in the crowd. The energy in the stadium was apparent as McCreery performed his countrified rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.” The game resulted in an NC State win against the Central Michigan Chippewas 38 t0 24.

McCreery is a self-proclaimed football lover and die-hard Tom Brady fan and has since performed the Anthem for Brady’s team, the New England Patriots.
