On Friday (March 4), the ACM Awards revealed that they gave out a few awards early, one being New Female Artist of the Year! That award went to Lainey Wilson…and they shared the video of her finding out. She thought she was doing Zoom press interviews with someone in Las Vegas, but it was Miranda Lambert who popped on her screen! Wilson was immediately confused by seeing Lambert.

The woman with the most ACM Award wins ever revealed to Wilson that she is the recipient of 2022’s New Artist of the Year trophy. Wilson immediately got emotional, telling Lambert that she of all people knows how hard you have to work to make it in this business.

Lainey Wilson’s hit song “Things a Man Oughta Know” was issued to radio in August 2020, soon becoming her breakout single. It peaked at #1 on the US Country Airplay chart. It was included on her most recent album, Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’. She released a second single featuring Cole Swindell titled “Never Say Never” in November 2021.
