It has been a long off-season for American Idol fans. Eight months have gone by since Ryan Seacrest announced to the world that Maddie Poppe had not only won, but she beat out her boyfriend, Caleb Lee Hutchinson!

While fans have been patiently waiting for the second season of the ABC version of the show to begin, the social media channels have been giving us some sneak peeks and behind the scenes looks, including a recap of all the fun they’ve had on the road for auditions.

Something that caught our eye in the above video was a clip from a Coer D’Alene, Idaho audition where a young girl was on top of Luke Bryan‘s shoulders while she was showing off her lasso skills and Katy Perry and Lionel Richie were dancing.

One of the reasons we can’t wait for the new season to start is to find out how the heck (and why the heck) this happened!

Well, thanks to a recently uploaded video to the official American Idol page, we won’t have to wait much longer!

“Every star’s journey starts somewhere,” the video reads, before revealing the premiere date as Sunday, March 3. Like last year, Idol will air on ABC on Sunday and Monday nights – with the Monday night show competing with The Voice once it returns as well.

We can’t wait for this new season! Can you? Watch Season 2’s promo video below.
