Blended families are common, but that doesn’t mean that getting used to a new family dynamic is always easy. When Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s romance began to blossom, Shelton took his role as a second father figure to Stefani’s three boys seriously — but not too seriously.

Stefani’s three sons are from her previous marriage to Gavin Rossdale, and the kids get to spend time with both parents regularly. Shelton knows that his role isn’t quite the same as that of a dad, but he’s still there to provide guidance and protection to the smallest members of his family.
Shelton says that his own stepfather was a great role model to him, and he strives to fill that role for Stefani’s three sons.

While Shelton takes the role seriously, he still focuses on having fun with the boys and says that he can’t imagine his life without him, especially after being around them for the past five years.

While it’s clear that Shelton will be a great stepfather, it’s not quite official — yet. Stefani and Shelton announced their engagement in October 2020, and but have yet to announce a wedding date. One thing’s for sure — a fabulous star-studded guest list and incredible fashion choices will be the talk of Hollywood for weeks after the couple’s long-awaited nuptials.
