Blake Shelton Feels Inspired To Create More Music
Blake Shelton recently confirmed the news his fans have been waiting years to hear…he’s working on a new album!
The singer and former Voice coach was inspired to start creating more music after working with Post Malone on his song “Pour Me a Drink.” Shelton told PEOPLE:
“…that kid came along and asked me to sing on his song with him. It took off and was a big hit this summer, and it reminded me like, ‘Hey, get off your a–! This may be your last chance to really take a big swing at this thing.’ So here I am.”
In September, Shelton announced he left his former record label of 23 years, Warner Music Nashville. Later that month, he announced he signed a new deal with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville.
Shelton released a new single in November titled “Texas.” The track is a nod to George Strait and references his classic hit “All My Ex’s Live in Texas.”
The song was a smash success right out of the gate. 156 reporting radio stations added “Texas” to their rotations within its first week of release…the highest number of first-week adds Shelton has ever experienced in his career.
A New Blake Shelton Album Is Coming…But When?
Clearly, the appetite for new Blake Shelton music is strong. Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait much longer to hear more new music because a new album is on the way.
Shelton recently confirmed with Taste of Country Nights that he’s been working on a new project in the studio. While he doesn’t know exactly when the album will be released, he said fans can expect to hear more news after the New Year.
“I bet you next month [January], I’ll know when the album date is gonna be,” he said.
Whenever Shelton’s next project drops, it will be his first new album since 2021’s Body Language.
Shelton says he has “some things cut” already. But he’s still working on the final touches.
“The truth is they’re probably gonna wait and see what happens with [‘Texas’]. Does it go fast? Does it go slow? Then they’ll probably start the clock,” he said.
Based on the response to “Texas,” Shelton’s new album will surely be one of the biggest releases in country music next year!
