Blake Shelton has been on a roll with his singles off of his latest album, “If I’m Honest.” The album’s first three country singles all placed within the Top 10 on the country charts, with “Came Here to Forget” and “Guy With a Girl” reaching the top spots.
Now, Shelton is ready to keep up his successful streak with his new single, “Every Time I Hear That Song.” Written by Aimee Mayo, Chris Lindsey, Brad Warren, and Brett Warren, the song is told from the perspective of a heartbroken man reeling in the pain of a recent breakup. The narrator sings of a specific song that makes him think of his lost love every time he hears it. Therefore, he’s forced to constantly relive the heartache of their breakup over and over again.
Although Shelton didn’t write the song, it’s one that he’s easily able to connect to following his divorce from Miranda Lambert. Shelton channeled that real-life heartbreak into his debut performance of the song, which took place at the 2017 People’s Choice Awards in January. Fans were captivated by his emotional performance, which generated a lot of hype in the days after the People’s Choice Awards.
After such a heart-tugging debut, Shelton readied his official music video for “Every Time I Hear that Song.” In a Facebook post, Shelton revealed that the video is set to drop on Tuesday (February 7). As if that wasn’t exciting enough, he also shared a 30-second sneak peek at the video for his fans to see.
The sneak peek of the video shows Shelton standing in a darkened room, with some sort of metal set piece behind him. He has visions of the girl he loved, who he keeps trying to reach. In one heartbreaking moment, Shelton goes walking toward a wall where he sees the girl standing, only to discover that she wasn’t there. Shelton keeps searching for his lost love throughout the sneak peek video, but never manages to find her.
We wonder how this video will end? It seems unlikely that there’s a happy ending in store, but that may make the video all the more powerful.
