He poured out his heart during this deeply emotional and heartfelt tribute to a woman that was so much more than just a good friend – she represented a tremendously happy part of many people’s day with her vibrant on-air personality.
Mourning the loss of someone he considered a good friend and identified as his biggest fan ever, Kid Rock opened up about the devastating loss many, including himself, had suffered with the recent passing of beloved radio host, Linda Lee.
Just one day before the 52nd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards were set to air, Lee passed away after a seven month battle with cancer. Lee, who was a Metro Detroit native and longtime broadcast host of WYCD 99.5 FM’s Afternoon Drive show, had been planning to attend the ACM Awards to accept her very first award for Major Market Personalities of the Year.
In an emotional statement, Kid Rock expressed his deep loss and recalled the wonderful woman so many people loved to tune in for.
“It breaks my heart to hear of my friend and WYCD radio personality Linda Lee has passed on,” Kid Rock wrote on his official website. “She was always so positive, happy and full of life. She always made me smile and feel good by telling me what a big fan she was (and would insist on proving it by sending me pics of posters of me prominently displayed in her home! – sorry Jeff!!!) She always treated me with respect and we shared a lot of laughs when interviewing me or texting (especially in this day and age of “I gotcha”) Rock On Linda, from your friend and FAN.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with her friends, family, fans, and Kid Rock during this very difficult time.
