Carly Pearce Brings A Little “Sass” To CMT Music Awards With ‘Diamondback’

Carly Pearce took the stage during Monday night’s (April 11) CMT Music Awards to perform a track from her latest album, 29: Written in Stone. Donning a fringy, western outfit backed by flames shooting from the stage, Pearce belted out “Diamondback.”

“Diamondback,” is a breakup anthem with a twinge of revenge woven throughout as the singer tells her ex that he can have everything back except his diamond.

Pearce teased her performance during an appearance on CBS Mornings last month while announcing nominations for the fan voted CMT Music Awards. She told hosts Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson that she was thrilled to be performing this song live.

“I am so excited! This is such a crowd favorite at my shows, and it’s kind of my little sassy moment to come give the ladies some strength. You can expect a lot of this sass. I’m gonna be ready for it,” Carly said.

Pearce is nominated for two awards, including one in the brand new CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year category for her performance of “Dear Miss Loretta,” and in the Collaborative Video of the Year category for her collaboration with Ashley McBryde on “Never Wanted To Be That Girl.”

Pearce won her first and only CMT Music Award in 2018 for Breakthrough Video of the Year for “Every Little Thing,” and has previously been nominated for three Female Video of the Year Awards (2018, 2019 and 2021).
