Carrie Underwood has been a busy mama this year! While traveling on her Storyteller Tour, Underwood has always had a special travel companion by her side…her 20-month old son, Isaiah.
Since Underwood’s husband, Mike Fisher, has a packed schedule full of hockey games and other commitments, Underwood keeps Isaiah with her on the road until Fisher has some time off to spend with him at home. But touring with a baby hasn’t been smooth sailing for Underwood, as she revealed in a new interview with The Charlotte Observer.
“It’s been a challenge and sometimes it’s been stressful, but it’s been really great, too…He gets to be with me all day, and I get to be with him,” she said.
Traveling with a baby means that Underwood has had to make some extra additions to her tour bus. Besides the crib next to her bed and the baby bath tub, Underwood has also completely baby-proofed her bus. Underwood admits that the baby-proofing devices can be a pain to deal with sometimes, but she knows all of the precautions are worth it.
“We had to put locking mechanisms on all the doors – which sometimes is really annoying, because if you try to open a drawer, you’re like, ‘Ugh, it’s locked,’ and then you have to get up and walk to the other side of the bus and press a button,” she said. “But I couldn’t have him falling down the trash chute!”
No, we certainly wouldn’t want that to happen! Thanks to Underwood’s baby-proofing measures, Isaiah shouldn’t be tumbling down the trash chute, but if you step on her bus, you may end up falling all over his toys. “There are toys everywhere!” Underwood declared.
Hey, if you’re a baby traveling on the road, you got to stay entertained!
Speaking of entertaining, Underwood is up for the Entertainer of the Year Award at the upcoming CMAs. After such a successful tour and awesome singles such as her latest, “Dirty Laundry,” we think she has a good shot at winning it!
