Cody Johnson rang in the New Year in Las Vegas with the help of the iconic show Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. 

This year, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve took place in Times Square in New York, the West Coast, Las Vegas, and Puerto Rico, each with its own host.

Ryan Seacrest marked his 20th year hosting the iconic show, while Rita Ora was his Times Square co-host. Jeannie Mai hosted the West Coast party, Rob Gronkowski was in Las Vegas, and Dayanara Torres was the host in Puerto Rico.

In the weeks leading up to the event, countless stars were announced as performers including Carrie Underwood, Jelly Roll, Blake Shelton, Ernest, HARDY, Teddy Swims, Thomas Rhett, and Cody Johnson, among others.

Cody Johnson performed two songs from Las Vegas.

Cody Johnson was one of the few artists who performed from Las Vegas. The Las Vegas portion took place at venues all over the strip! Shelton performed from his restaurant and bar Ole Red, while Cody Johnson’s performance took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Johnson performed two of his biggest songs, “The Painter” and “‘Til You Can’t.”

“‘Til You Can’t” was released on Johnson’s 2021 album Human: The Double Album. It’s arguably one of Johnson’s biggest songs to date, having been certified 3x Platinum by RIAA.

The song also won Johnson a Grammy for Best Country Song in 2023, as well as Single of the Year and Video of the Year at the CMA Awards.

Johnson slowed it down a bit for his next song, “The Painter,” which is a love letter to his wife, Brandi. The song was released on August 11, 2023 as the lead single from his album Leather.

It is certified Platinum and has since gone #1 on country radio since its release.
