The longtime judge from the hit dancing competition was hospitalized on Tuesday (April 18th) following the airing of the most recent episode of Dancing With The Stars.
The 49-year-old ‘DWTS’ judge shared a recent photo with her followers on social media and revealed that she had recently been hospitalized, the photograph showing her arm bandaged up and IV tubes running up the length of her forearm.
For more than 10 years, Carrie Ann Inaba has been a familiar face to audiences across America as a fan-favorite judge on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ using her experience as a longtime show dancer and performer to deliver praise and critique of so many wonderful performances.
Through an Instagram post on Tuesday, Inaba revealed that she had been hospitalized following a brief bout with iron deficiency anemia – a condition she has battled for a long time.
A common type of anemia, iron deficiency anemia is a condition in which a person lacks the necessary amount of healthy red blood cells which carry vital oxygen throughout the body. The contributing factor to the condition is a lack of iron and doesn’t allow the body to generate enough healthy red blood cells. The condition can often leave someone feeling exhausted and short of breath.
Beneath the photograph, Inaba writes, “Iron deficiency anemia strikes again…” and added that she had been working too hard, but was grateful for the solution to her condition.

While many feared she may not be able to return for the next episode of “Dancing”, Inaba cleared up any confusion by posting an additional photo on the social media site Wednesday afternoon.
“Thank you all for the love, support, and encouragement. I am deeply touched by all your messages…I can’t wait for Monday night @DancingABC,” She said below a photo showing her thanks and appreciation.
