Music’s biggest night was held on Sunday (Jan. 28) in New York City at the iconic Madison Square Garden. Musicians from all genres were in attendance as the most prestigious awards were given out all night.
Hosted once again by James Corden, the Grammys were jam-packed with powerful performances, moving acceptance speeches, and a lot of celebrity fanfare. Unfortunately for country fans, most of the country awards were given out at the pre-telecast including Best Country Song, Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Solo Performance.
The only country Grammy awarded during the live broadcast was Best Country Album, which went to Chris Stapleton for From A Room: Volume 1. He also took home Best Country Song for “Broken Halos” and Best Country Solo Performance for “Either Way.”
Among the country nominees, there were two singers notably absent from the night’s festivities – Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert. Chesney’s social media footprint isn’t as large as Lambert’s, meaning he doesn’t post as often as the “Tin Man” singer does, so it’s hard to pinpoint why his skipped the awards show.
As for Lambert, on Saturday (Jan. 27), she posted a photo of herself on her horse in her “happy place,” which is most likely her farm in Tennessee. Some would say she was just unwinding before the next leg of her Livin’ Like Hippies Tour, which resumes on Feb. 1 in Tacoma, Washington.

However, on Sunday night (Jan. 28), the same night as the Grammys, she posted a photo in a hotel using the hashtag, “#NYC,” meaning she was in New York City, where the Grammys were held, but was a no-show at the awards. This might make sense if she had a show on the East Coast in the next few days, but her next show is on the West Coast!

She was up for two awards – Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song – and some might say she was snubbed for Best Country Album. We might never know why she decided not to attend the Grammys, but we do know that she was in the same city as it was being held. Why do you think she skipped the ceremony?
