Country met R&B at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards when Florida Georgia Line took the stage alongside Grammy-winning recording artist John Legend – and what a show they put on!

The performance began just like any other of Legend’s: seated at a grand piano while pouring his heart into the delivery of his ballad “Surefire.”

As he wrapped up his own tune, the singer then smoothly transitioned into FGL’s emotionally-charged country song as the duo unexpectedly walked out onto the stage.

Proving they can hold their own in just about any genre of music, FGL’s performance with the platinum recording artist was one of the best of the night. Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard went on to accept the award for “Top Country Song” for “H.O.L.Y.”, which dominated the top of the charts in 2016, not only the country airwaves but the all genre Hot 100 as well.

“I wanna thank the Lord for letting us do what we love day in and day out, making our dreams come true,” Hubbard said following their win. “I want to thank our friends and family. I want to thank my wife that’s over in Africa changing the world.”
