Country vocalist and internet phenomenon Alexandra Kay has reeled in over 300,000 views on her cover of Deana Carter’s “Strawberry Wine,” and for a good reason.
Dressed in a simple grey T-shirt paired with a trucker hat, the young artist delivers an intoxicating cover of the country classic. While the song may sound like a professional recording, it’s far from that. Alexandra records all her videos on her phone and uploads them sans any form of retooling.
While it may appear that the young social media darling is an overnight sensation with her videos raking in over 30 million views in the span of two months, her success is actually the result of years of effort. Alexandra was featured on American Idol back in 2011 and made it through three rounds before leaving the show.
