Just two days before the CMT Music Awards, Gabby Barrett announced she was unable to attend the ceremony. She cited “personal circumstances” as the reason why she pulled out of the awards show at the last minute.

Barrett had been scheduled to participate in the opening performance of “Like a Lady” with Lady A, Carly Pearce, and Lindsay Ell. She said she would be “rooting” for all of them as well as the other “incredibly talented nominees and performers.”

Barrett was one of those “incredibly talented nominees.” Her music video for “The Good Ones” ended up winning in the Female Video of the Year category.

Since Barrett was unable to attend the ceremony, the award’s presenter Gladys Knight accepted it on her behalf.

Barrett finally addressed her big win in a video she shared on social media the week after the CMT Music Awards:

..thank you so much to CMT and to the fans, thank you guys so much for allowing me to win Female Video of the Year. Such a huge honor…

Barrett went on to speak about how she was “so sad” she wasn’t able to be at the show. She said she hopes she’ll be able to be there next year!
