George Takes Over With New Tracks

“The King of Country” has been full of surprises lately!

A while back, George Strait revealed his plans to release his first record in years. Titled Honky Tonk Time Machine, Strait made it clear the album would boost that traditional country sound that everyone knows and loves him for.

Strait first gave fans a taste of the album by releasing the song “Código,” an ode to his favorite tequila brand (which he invested in back in 2016).

From that point, Strait continued to intoxicate fans with new releases off of Honky Tonk Time Machine, including its lead single, “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar.” The song made its debut in February, and helped Strait accomplish a feat he hadn’t reached in ages.

For six years, Strait was unable to get a single of his to land within the Top 30 of the Country Airplay chart. But “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar” broke that dry streak by debuting at the chart’s 20th spot. That’s how you know it’s a good song!

On top of “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar,” Strait has also released tracks such as “The Weight of the Badge” (a tribute to police officers) and “God and Country Music” (a song that features his seven-year-old grandson).

So Many Surprises

While Strait’s schedule is certainly a busy one thanks to the new album, it’s been getting even more jam-packed with the announcement of new shows. In case you were unaware, Strait retired from touring years ago, and generally only performs a few times each year, usually just as part of his residency in Las Vegas.

This year, in addition to his Vegas commitments, Strait performed the closing concert at RodeoHouston and has three stadium shows on the books. The last of those stadium shows, which takes place in August at Gillette Stadium, was announced through a hilarious video also starring one of the concert’s other performers, Blake Shelton.

With so much on his plate, you’d think that would be the end of “The King of Country’s” exciting announcements. But you thought wrong!

On Wednesday (March 27), Strait posted a photo on social media teasing something extremely “exciting” to come, and soon. He was all smiles in the picture, which shows him playing guitar while sitting on top of a barrel in front of a gray backdrop.

A Guess At What He’s Teasing

We’ve got a good idea exactly what the “exciting” thing is that Strait has in store for us…a music video!

It only makes sense when you look at the picture, considering the staged scene and the fact that the photo shows Strait being filmed. If he is working on a music video, that’s a huge deal, as it will be his first music video released in years.

Only time will tell if that’s actually what Strait has up his sleeve!

If Strait is filming a music video, do y’all have any ideas which song it may before? It makes sense for it to accompany “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar,” since that’s the single, but we have a feeling it may also be for “Código” based on the setting alone.

Go ahead and give the latter song a listen below so you can get hyped up just in case that is what the supposed music video is for!
