After being with The Voice from the beginning, Blake Shelton is leaving the show at the end of Season 23 next year. It’s been an emotional thing for his wife, Gwen Stefani, to process, since they met and fell in love while working as coaches on the show.
Stefani is currently serving as a coach on Season 22 with Shelton. She is not returning for Season 23, so this is the last season they’ll ever work on together.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Monday (December 5), Stefani opened up about her feelings surrounding Shelton’s choice to leave The Voice. With tears in her eyes, she said, “It’s mine and Blake’s last season…I can’t even get the words out of my mouth ’cause it sucks.”
Stefani remained emotional as she continued speaking:
“I never in my lifetime would’ve pictured me doing something like this, and it’s been one of the most fun things I’ve ever done.” she said. “I love being a coach, I love watching the contestants grow, I love having an impact, it’s super inspiring for me. And then, on top of it, I meet my best friend here, that’s gonna be forever mine.”
