Country singer Ingrid Andress was the star attraction at the MLB Home Run Derby in Arlington, Texas, on Monday, July 15th.
Andress, a four-time Grammy nominee, took on the challenge of singing the National Anthem and chose to perform it a cappella. Her performance quickly went viral but for all the wrong reasons. She showed notable struggles on high notes and a generally off-key delivery. Unfortunately, she faced massive backlash for her performance.
The day after the performance, Andress took to social media to address the situation candidly.
She revealed that she was drunk during the performance and announced her plans to check into a rehabilitation facility.
“I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.”
