You may best know rock singer and musician Kenny Loggins as the original voice behind “Footloose.” While that has certainly been the defining song of his career, he is also known for making contributions to numerous other films’ soundtracks, including A Star is Born.
In addition to his work with movie soundtracks, Loggins has also created a number of his own records. He made his solo debut with the release of an album in 1977, and that album ended up delivering one of today’s most beloved Christmas songs.
That song and the album are both titled “Celebrate Me Home.” Although the song was the album’s title track, it was surprisingly never released as a commercial single. However, it was released as a promotional piece, and managed to climb to the the 64th spot on the Record World Singles Chart.
Although it is now mainly played during the Christmas season, “Celebrate Me Home” is not a Christmas song by definition. It ended up earning such a distinction because of its opening line, “Home for the holidays…”
The song has since been covered by a number of artists from various genres. One of the most recent covers came courtesy of Jennifer Nettles, who recorded it for her 2016 holiday album To Celebrate Christmas.
On Wednesday night (November 29), Nettles was one of the artists invited to perform for the annual Christmas in Rockefeller Plaza special in New York City. The song she chose to sing was none other than “Celebrate Me Home,” and she ended up delivering a wonderful performance.
Dressed in an elegant white coat with matching gloves, Nettles charmed the crowd with her delicate vocals and sweet smile. You’re also sure to find yourself smiling as you watch her sing, because her performance was simply delightful!
You can find the video of Nettles’ performance below. We hope you enjoy it!
