Back in January, Fixer Upper Stars Chip and Joanna Gaines took to Instagram to share some exciting news with their fans. They’re expecting their fifth child!

Chip announced the news with a funny photo, which shows him puffing out his stomach to try and look bigger than his wife’s baby bump.

Chip and Joanna are already parents to two sons, Drake and Duke, and two daughters, Ella Rose and Emmie Kay. When it came time to name their fifth child, fans were looking everywhere to see if the couple was hinting at our showing preference for one letter over the other. For example, if the seemed to be mentioning the letter “E” a lot, fans would assume they were having a girl.

Finally, Chip and Joanna revealed the gender of their fifth child in the sweetest way. Chip chatted with a young fan named Gage while they were both at Tim Tebow’s annual celebrity gala and golf tournament.

In the middle of their interaction, Chip asked Gage if he could help him think of a “D” name for the new baby. Gage’s face instantly lit up, knowing full well that meant that the baby is a boy!

In addition to preparing for the birth of their fifth child, Chip and Joanna have had a lot on their plates. They just wrapped up the final season of Fixer Upper, opened a new restaurant, and Joanna is launching a cookbook. And that’s just the beginning!

On Tuesday (April 3), Joanna took to her blog to provide fans with a more in-depth update about what is going on with her and her family. She saved a pregnancy update for the end of the blog, including a new photo of her baby bump. Looking gorgeous as ever, Joanna was absolutely glowing!

Joanna wrote of how when they decided to end Fixer Upper, they thought it was time to take a step back to focus on their family and business. But now that she’s pregnant, Joanna realizes that there “was a bigger plan in place” the entire time.

She said that this pregnancy has been quite fun, and she enjoys seeing how excited her kids get about meeting their baby brother. Since they are all close in age, Joanna says that “none of them actually remember me being pregnant.”

In closing, Joanna spoke so sweetly about her baby boy, saying, “I truly believe this baby is a gift from God for our family in this season.”

If you’re anything like us, you also can’t wait to meet baby Gaines when he arrives!
