On July 12, 2020, John Travolta shocked the world with news that his beloved wife, actress Kelly Preston, had lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. The announcement came as a shock to most because it wasn’t public knowledge that she was sick.

She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many,” he wrote on Instagram.

Last year marked the first Mother’s Day since Preston’s death. Travolta paid tribute to his late wife with two photos on Instagram. The first photo is of the couple with their daughter Ella and son Benjamin, while the second is of them with their son, Jett, who passed away in 2009.

Dearest Kelly, you brought into my life three of the most wonderful children I have ever known. Thank you. We love and miss you,” he wrote. “Happy Mother’s Day.”

This year, Travolta shared a very special video in honor of Mother’s Day to the tune of Barbra Streisand’s “Nice ‘n’ Easy.” The video included photos of Kelly and their three kids – Jett, Ella, and Benjamin – from over the years.

On January 2, 2009, Jett passed away during their Christmas vacation in the Bahamas. Since his death, the Travolta family confirmed that Jett had autism and suffered from regular seizures. His death certificate attributes Jett’s cause of death to a seizure.

John’s caption on his video read, “We love and miss you Kelly. Happy Mother’s Day ?❤️”

Ella also paid tribute to her mom with a photo of the two of them on the Dumbo ride at Disneyland and wrote, “I’ve learned a lot from all of the strong and powerful women in my life, I thank you all for being such wonderful role models. I miss and love you, mama. Happy Mothers to all of the wonderful moms out there!”
