Kevin Bacon, Who Worked With Rob Reiner On A Few Good Men, Fights Back Tears In Video About His Death

Kevin Bacon is in a state of disbelief after learning about Rob Reiner’s death.

Rob Reiner, a renowned actor, director, producer, and screenwriter, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed in their Brentwood, California home on December 14. Reiner’s eldest daughter, Tracy Reiner, recalled seeing her father at a family gathering just one day prior.

An investigation into the Reiners’ deaths commenced. While new details continue to emerge, the LAPD has announced that Rob and Michele’s son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested in connection with their deaths.

…it was determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide,” the LAPD shared in a statement on social media. “The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths.

News of Rob and Michele’s murders sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Performers who worked with Rob on his many iconic films paused to pay tribute after learning about his death.

Kevin Bacon was among those who shared a tribute to Rob. He worked with him on the 1992 courtroom drama movie A Few Good Men. Kevin played Captain Jack Ross, and Rob directed the film.

Kevin got choked up in his video about Rob’s death, saying, “I’m not sure how to do this.”

He described the moment when he got the call about A Few Good Men, saying:

“But Rob Reiner gave me a job in ‘A Few Good Men.’ Sometime in the ’90s, I guess it was. I was over the moon to get that job…people may or may not know, but ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ [another film directed by Rob] is my all-time favorite movie, and when he called me, I was just so thrilled.”

Then, Kevin recalled the sense of community Rob fostered on the set of A Few Good Men, saying:

The making of that movie was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a set. He was so fun. It really comes down from the top, you know? You can set a tone where people feel like we are working hard, but also working hard in a safe, and pleasant, and fun situation.”

He continued:

You know, we had lunch together every day. I’ve never done that with a director before or since; I’d never gone to have lunch. And Michele would be there, and the two of them were so great together. [Kevin’s wife] Kyra [Sedgwick] would come by, she was pregnant, and bring [their son] Travis. It was a magical time.”

A Few Good Men Star Demi Moore Shares Tribute To Reiner

Demi Moore, who played Lieutenant Commander Joanne Galloway in A Few Good Men, also paid tribute to Rob Reiner. The Landman star wrote:

There are no words to truly express the unfathomable devastation of losing Rob and Michelle Reiner. Our kids grew up together, we worked together, and as our lives intertwined personally and professionally I will always cherish the moments and memories of what we shared.”

She shared a photo of Rob and Michele alongside a picture of her, Tom Cruise, and Kevin Bacon on the set of A Few Good Men. You can see that photo in the second slide of her post below.

Additionally, Reiner received a tribute from country music superstar and actress Reba McEntire. She worked with him on the 1994 film North, and he also directed the end of her music video for “Does He Love You,” her famous duet with Linda Davis.

I enjoyed every minute I was around Rob Reiner,” Reba said. “He was one of a kind. I got to work with him on the movie North and he also helped us with our ending of my video, “Does He Love You.” I sure will miss him. What a gift he was to this world. Rest in peace, my friend.
