In a heartbreaking moment for her family, country music singer LeAnn Rimes opened up on social media and revealed a very close loss for her family.
Rimes, who was scheduled to perform tonight in Newton, New Jersey, revealed the sad news just over 6 hours before she was set to take the stage and has postponed several other dates due to the passing of her loved one.

The singer, who got her start in country music at just 11 years old, has been touring the country off and on since her annual Christmas tour came to a close just around the holiday.
Her latest album, Remnants, debuted in 2016 with an EP, Re-Imagined, being released just late last year. That five-track project also included a duet with Stevie Nicks on “Borrowed.” She also recreated some of her other hits in new and creative ways.
While Rimes shared the news of the family’s loss on Twitter, there has been very scant details regarding who it was that passed away.
“Due to a sudden loss, the following shows are being rescheduled,” she wrote on Twitter before listing the affected performances.

The Cabot in Beverly is being rescheduled to Thursday, February 28th
The Flying Monkey in NH has been rescheduled to Friday, March 1st— leann rimes cibrian (@leannrimes) February 7, 2019
Following up that tweet, Rimes expressed her deep gratitude for the outpouring of love from fans and friends while also revealing her deep grief during this time of loss.
“I am honestly overwhelmed at the outpouring of kindness and love sent our way. Our hearts are so broken right now,” she said.
The theater she was supposed to perform at tonight called the cancellation due to “a loss in the family” but other details are unavailable.
