Country Duo Kat & Alex Announce Split “Musically And Romantically” After Finding Fame On American Idol
Country music fans were first introduced to the duo that would become Kat & Alex on Season 18 of American Idol. The couple wowed the judges with their rendition of “Shallow” from A Star Is Born.
Luke Bryan commented, “Good Lord are we filming like a soap opera or is it ‘American Idol‘ Ken and Barbie?” He was clearly in awe, as he said, “Are you real people?“

Kat & Alex married on January 15, 2021. They were signed by Sony Music Nashville shortly after they said “I do.”
Over the years, Kat & Alex performed at the Grand Ole Opry several times and attended the ACM and CMA Awards. They also gained a lot of notoriety on social media for their performances that celebrated their Latino heritage.
Kat & Alex would sing in both Spanish and English. They’d often remake popular country songs by singing them in Spanish, and would share those videos online.
Their Spanish rendition of “Humble and Kind” even caught the attention of Tim McGraw, who complimented it. He said, “This blew me away.”
