A little over a month ago, Michelle Branch filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Patrick Carney. Branch, who is a former member of the now-defunct country music duo The Wreckers, shares two kids with Carney, who is a drummer for the Black Keys. Their youngest child is a daughter who was born earlier this year.
Branch shared a post on Twitter accusing Carney of cheating on her. That post was deleted soon after. But it wasn’t long before Branch announced that she and Carney were separating. She filed for divorce on August 12.
News also broke that Branch was arrested early on August 11 after slapping Carney across the face at their Nashville home. She was taken into custody and booked for domestic assault. The charges against Branch were dropped on August 24.

Now, Branch and Carney have made the decision to pause their divorce proceedings while they see if a reconciliation is possible.
PEOPLE obtained court documents showing a judge signed off on Branch and Carney’s request to halt their divorce proceedings. The suspension will last for six months. Once those six months end, Branch and Carney will decide if they’ll continue with the proceedings.
“As evidenced by the signatures below, that the parties, Michelle Jacquet Branch and Patrick James Carney, are seeking a suspension of the divorce proceedings in this cause to effect reconciliation,” read the documents PEOPLE cites. “The parties may participate in counseling services to effectuate reconciliation and/or may resume living together as husband and wife and their acts and conduct in doing so shall not be determined condonation of any prior misconduct and all acts or actions by the parties prior to the entry of this order shall remain and constitute grounds for divorce.”
