Miranda Lambert Announces New Album, Will Release 1st Song At Midnight

A few years ago, Miranda Lambert united with songwriters Jack Ingram and Jon Randall to write a song called “Tin Man.” Released as the third single off of Lambert’s album The Weight of These Wings, “Tin Man” won the ACM Award for Song of the Year.

The tune was also nominated for a Grammy in the Best Country Song category.

Since Lambert, Ingram, and Randall clearly made a great team, they got together once more to write a song for her latest album, Wildcard. That song became “Tequila Does.”

Although it hasn’t been released as a single, “Tequila Does” is a fan-favorite track from Wildcard.

Lambert got her fans all riled up a few days ago when she shared a couple of photos of her hanging out with Ingram and Randall once more. She captioned the pictures, “We don’t know what we’re doing, but we know we’re supposed to be doing it.”

Fans rightfully assumed that Lambert, Ingram, and Randall were working on a new song or two.

Lambert confirmed fans’ assumptions when she made another post on Wednesday (March 3). In the post, she spoke about how she goes to Marfa, Texas to write with Ingram and Randall whenever she needs “an escape.”

She said “Tin Man” and “Tequila Does” were written during such escapes. And so were over a dozen other songs:

We recharge. We get inspired by [Marfa’s] beauty. We write songs. Tin Man was the 1st one we shared with you. Tequila Does was the 2nd. In between, we’ve written 13 more. And it’s about time to start sharing them with y’all…” Miranda wrote.

Then, on Thursday morning (March 4), Lambert announced that she, Ingram, and Randall put together an entire album of songs titled The Marfa Tapes. Its first song, “In His Arms,” will be released at midnight on Friday (March 5).

Fans will have to wait just a little longer to hear the whole record, which drops on May 7:

They’re raw,” Lambert said of the songs on the record. “You can hear the wind blowing, the cows mooing… We wanted you to feel like you were right there with us, sitting around the campfire, escaping the world, disappearing into the music.”
