Miranda Lambert promised that her upcoming record will have more of a rock and roll vibe, and based on the songs she has released so far, she’s staying true to that promise.
During CMA Fest in June, Lambert debuted a brand-new track titled “Locomotive.” Upon hearing it, fans compared the fiery song to her other supercharged tracks such as “Gunpowder & Lead” and “Kerosene.”
But “Locomotive” wasn’t the first single Lambert released off of her future record. While she did release an official audio clip for the song, she also dropped a new single. That track, titled “It All Comes Out in the Wash,” made an impressive debut, entering the Country Airplay chart at the 19th position.
This made the single Lambert’s second-highest career debut on the chart, with her 2016 single “Vice” being her all-time highest. That single debuted at the chart’s 18th spot.
On top of that, “It All Comes Out in the Wash” was the #1 most-added single on country radio for the week of its release.
When asked by FOX News to reveal the inspiration behind the song, Lambert had a simple answer. “Life itself actually,” she shared.
Lambert has said in other interviews that her new record has been inspired by her marriage to NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin and the time she has spent with him in New York City.
That inspiration can clearly be heard in a steamy new song Lambert just released, titled “Mess with My Head.” In an Instagram post introducing the song to the world, Lambert said it was directly influenced by the time she has spent with her husband in the Big Apple.
“It has a real rock edge,” Lambert said of the song. “Part of that comes from my co-writers, @LukeDick and @Wruckestrike, and the other part of that comes from spending time in New York City. Being there has put a new energy into my music and my writing.”

That new energy comes through in “Mess with My Head,” which is a red-hot love song with a distinct rock and roll feeling. The chorus is the perfect mix of sassy and sultry, containing lyrics such as, “I let you mess with my, mess with my head. I let you mess with my, mess with my bed.”
If Lambert is considering a second single to release off of her future album, this one should be a top contender. It’s so catchy and fun!
