On February 16, 2019, Miranda Lambert had some surprising news to share with her fans…she was a married woman!

Following a whirlwind romance, Lambert married Brendan McLoughlin in January 2019 during a private ceremony in Tennessee.

I met the love of my life. And we got hitched! My heart is full. Thank you Brendan Mcloughlin for loving me for…. me,” Lambert wrote alongside a pair of wedding photos.

Lambert met McLoughlin in New York City in November 2018 while she was performing for Good Morning America with her band, the Pistol Annies. McLoughlin serves in the NYPD, and was working in Times Square on the day of Lambert’s performance.

McLoughlin has been recognized by the NYPD for outstanding service. He was praised by his precinct in 2018 for apprehending a perpetrator at a bank robbery in progress.

Because McLoughlin works and lives in NYC, he and Lambert have split the past year between there and her home in Nashville. Now, Lambert is hitting the road for her Wildcard Tour, and her husband inspired her to do something special on her trek.

In November 2019, McLoughlin was interviewed and recognized by New York radio host Kelly Ford for “First Responder Friday.” In his interview, McLoughlin explained why he became a cop, saying he has many family members in law enforcement.

He also shared how he honors first responders when he’s out on the road with Lambert.

I make it a point every time we go to a different city; See a cop, ‘thank you.’ Military vet, ‘thank you.’ I feel like everyone should do that,” he said.

After witnessing that interview, Lambert wanted to use her Wildcard Tour to honor first responders in each city she travels to. If fans know of a first responder they think is worthy of recognition, they can nominate that person to a local participating radio station.

One first responder from each participating city on Lambert’s tour will be picked to be honored at the show. They will also receive a free pair of tickets and meet and greet passes.

Lambert explained the whole concept in a video she filmed with McLoughlin.

These brave men and women are keeping our lives safe every day. I’m a cop’s kid and now I’m married to a cop, [I have] firemen in my family. So I really appreciate everything everybody does,” Lambert said.

You can catch the couple’s video below.

If you know Lambert has a show in your city, and would like to nominate a first responder for recognition, you can see a list of participating radio stations here.

Hats off to Lambert for taking this step to honor first responders, and a huge thank you to McLoughlin for his service!
