For the first time in over a decade, Brad Paisley isn’t standing center stage at Bridgestone Arena with Carrie Underwood to host the CMA Awards.
It was announced on August 19 that Carrie wouldn’t be hosting with Brad, but with Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton.

Paisley showed his support by tweeting, “As a fan of all 3 of these amazing women, I can’t wait to watch.”

The CMAs kicked off with an incredible medley in tribute to women in country throughout the years, but they still made sure to send Brad Paisley some love during the monologue.
The trio took the opportunity to thank former host Brad Paisley for allowing them to host together during this history-making year.

“Thanks to Brad Paisley for stepping back and letting us gals do our thing tonight,” Dolly said before explaining that Brad and his wife weren’t in attendance because they are on vacation. “We miss you. Carrie is missing you a lot, but we told her to suck it up.”
“Yeah, it takes two of us to fill Brad’s boots,” added Reba.
This is the first time in over a decade he and his family can take a vacation during this time of year – he’s usually busy hosting the CMAs!
